Background: This cell line was established in 1979 from the bone marrow aspirated of a 55-year-old male Caucasian with small cell lung carcinoma prior to treatment. The line is a classic small cell lung carcinoma cell line that expresses four biochemical markers, i.e., neuron specific enolase, brain isoenzyme of creatine kinase, L-DOPA decarboxylase and bombesin-like immunoreactivity.
