Application: Useful as a substrate for histone methyltransferase (at R3) and acetyltransferase (at K5, K8, K12 and K16) family assays and for screening small molecular inhibitors of Histone 4 (R3) methyltransferases for drug discovery.

Background: Histone acetyltransferase (HAT) p300/CBP catalyses the acetylation of this N-terminal tail of free histone H4 at Lys5, 8, 12, 16. Lys8 is thought to be the preferred acetylation site in H4. A number of methyltransferases also modify this region of the histone.

Description: A peptide substrate for Histone 4 R3 methyltransferases. The peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 1-21 of histone H4.
