Description: Small ubiquitin-related modifier 1, also called SMT3C or PIC1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SUMO1 gene and a member of the SUMO (small ubiquitin-like modifier) protein family. It functions in a manner similar to ubiquitin in that it is bound to target proteins as part of a post-translational modification system. However, unlike ubiquitin which targets proteins for degradation, this protein is involved in a variety of cellular processes, such as nuclear transport, transcriptional regulation, apoptosis, and protein stability. SUMO1 is not active until the last four amino acids of the carboxy-terminus have been cleaved off. Several pseudogenes have been reported for this gene.
Immunogen: An amino acid sequence from the N-terminus of human Small ubiquitin-related modifier 1 (DKKEGEYIKLKVIGQD) was used as the immunogen for this SUMO1 antibody (100% homologous in human, mouse and rat).
Storage: After reconstitution, the SUMO1 antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20 °C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
