Description: Ornithine aminotransferase (OAT) is an enzyme which is encoded in human by the OAT gene located on chromosome 10. This gene encodes the mitochondrial enzyme ornithine aminotransferase, which is a key enzyme in the pathway that converts arginine and ornithine into the major excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters glutamate and GABA. Mutations that result in a deficiency of this enzyme cause the autosomal recessive eye disease Gyrate Atrophy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. Related pseudogenes have been defined on the X chromosome.
Immunogen: An E. coli-derived human protein (amino acids A214-F439) was used as the immunogen for the Ornithine Aminotransferase antibody.
Storage: After reconstitution, the Ornithine Aminotransferase antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20 °C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
