Description
MCF 10A Cell Line | CL-0525 | Gentaur US, UK & Europe Disrtribition
Media: CM-0525
Organism: Homo sapiens, Human
Application: Transfection.
Background: The MCF 10A cell line is a non-tumorigenic epithelial cell line. The cells are positive for epithelial sialomucins, cytokeratins and milk fat globule antigen. They exhibit three dimensional growth in collagen, and form domes in confluent cultures. Thus far, the cells have shown no signs of terminal differentiation or senescence. The line is responsive to Insulin, glucocorticoids, cholera enterotoxin, and epidermal growth factor(EGF).By electron microscopy the cells display characteristics of luminal ductal cells but not of myoepithelial cells. They also express breast specific antigens as detected by positive reaction with MFA-Breast and MC-5 monoclonal antibodies. The calcium content of the medium exerts a strong effect on the morphology of the cells.
Age: 36 years
Tissue: Mammary gland, breast
Morphology: Epithelial
Growth Properties: Adherent
Doubling Time: N/A
Biosafty: 1
Medium: DMEM/F12(PM150312)+5% HS+20ng/ml EGF+0.5μg/ml Hydrocortisone+10μg/ml Insulin+1% NEAA(PB180424)+1% P/S(PB180120)
Subculturing: Remove and discard culture medium. Briefly rinse the cell layer with DPBS solution to remove all traces of serum that contains trypsin inhibitor. Add 1.0 to 2.0 mL of Trypsin-EDTA solution to flask and observe cells under an inverted microscope until cell layer is dispersed (usually within 2 to 3 minutes). Cells that are difficult to detach may be placed at 37°C to facilitate dispersal. Add 4.0 to 6.0 mL of complete growth medium and aspirate cells by gently pipetting. Add appropriate aliquots of the cell suspension to new culture vessels.
