Description
Human acidic Fibroblast Growth Factor | 90101-B | Gentaur US, UK & Europe Disrtribition
Category: Cytokine
Application: N/A
Background: aFGF and bFGF display 55% homology which is limited, however, to a few functional domains. The structure of aFGF, revealed by X-ray crystallography, shows a similar folding structure as IL-1. Because aFGF binds to the same receptor as bFGF, aFGF displays more or less the same spectrum of activities. It is, however, generally less active than bFGF in similar assays. FGF receptors are encoded by a gene family consisting of at least four receptor tyrosine kinases that transduce signals important in a variety of developmental and physiological processes related to cell growth and differentiation.
Description: Recombinant human aFGF (acidic Fibroblast Growth Factor) is a disulfide-linked monomer protein consisting of 141 a.a. and migrates as an approximately 16 kDa protein under reducing and non-reducing conditions. Native human aFGF, generated by the proteolytic removal of the signal peptide and propeptide, has a calculated mass of 16 kDa. Optimized DNA sequence encoding human acidic Fibroblast Growth Factor mature chain was expressed in E. coli.
