Description: Human hemochromatosis protein, also known as HFE, is a protein which in humans is encoded by the HFE gene. The gene is located on short arm of chromosome 6 at location 6p21.3. It is a membrane protein that is similar to MHC class I-type proteins and associates with beta2-microglobulin (beta2M). It is thought that this protein functions to regulate iron absorption by regulating the interaction of the transferrin receptor with transferrin. The iron storage disorder, hereditary haemochromatosis, is a recessive genetic disorder that results from defects in this gene.
Immunogen: Amino acids Q82-R199 from the human protein were used as the immunogen for the HFE antibody.
Storage: After reconstitution, the HFE antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20 °C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
