Description: Retroviral envelope proteins mediate receptor recognition and membrane fusion during early infection. Endogenous envelope proteins may have kept, lost or modified their original function during evolution. The transmembrane protien chain (TM) of 'Endogenous retrovirus group K member 7 Env polyprotein' (ERVK-7), anchors the envelope heterodimer to the viral membrane through one transmembrane domain. The second chain, called 'surface protein' or SU mediates receptor recognition.
Immunogen: A portion of amino acids 457-491 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for the ERVK-7 antibody.
Storage: Aliquot the ERVK-7 antibody and store frozen at -20 °C or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
